We understand that when you are cruising, time is a major factor for any tour. You have traveled a considerable distance and want to make the most of the time you have available, our cruise excursions have been designed to allow you to explore and discover as much of our amazing country as practically possible in the short time you have available. Most cruise ships dock for around 10 hrs so to allow time for getting off the ship and getting back without any fuss we have kept all of our cruise excursions to 8 hrs. Don’t worry if you have to reduce or indeed if you want to increase the tour duration just let us know and we will build a tour to suit your needs. Travelling as a family? Cruise Excursion Tour Summarries
Glorious Scotland: A scenic tour of west central Scotland that will take you through some beautiful towns and villages. We will have plenty of opportunity to take in the incredible Mountains and Lochs on our journey and step into the past to visit a castle or a historic jail. You will also be able to pick up some Scottish souvenirs from the many stops on this trip.
Scotland in TV and Film: Scotland has hosted a feast of fantastic films and TV series over the years including Braveheart, the Outlaw King, Mary Queen of Scot’s and Outlander. This tour will take us to the filming locations and to the famous battle sites featured in these movies.
Time Traveler Tour: Travel over 5000 years in a single day. On this tour we will take a journey back in time to stone-age Scotland on a site dating back to 3,500 BC. We will walk in the footsteps of the mighty roman empire as it moved up into the central belt of Scotland. We’ll discover the turbulent history of Scotland’s struggle for independence and the intrigue of the royal lineage in the times of Mary Queen of Scots and on to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the doomed Jacobite rebellions. We will finally jump back to the present day with a tale of magnificent beasts.
The Outlander Experience: Outlander has been a very successful TV series telling the story of Claire as she travels back to the time of the Jacobite Rebellion. We will travel to some of the filming locations and visit castles and palaces and discover their own interesting stories.
Edinburgh City Highlights: This tour will take us into the heart of the old town walking from Holyrood House up the royal mile to Edinburgh Castle passing by a list of attractions and points of interest. We will take the best part of the morning to travel 2 miles on foot before heading out an a tour around the city in our mini bus. Time spent at each location will depend on your interests but we will not be able to do everything because there is just so much. If you have longer in the city you will get a good idea of what you want to go and spend more time doing but if you only have the day you will get a good insight into the city and perhaps this will allow you to plan your next visit to our fabulous city.
Glasgow City Highlights: This tour starts in the city centre with a walking tour circuit taking in some magnificent sites and attractions in the heart of the city with the opportunity to do a spot of shopping. The walking tour will take up the morning and leave us free to discover the attractions on the outskirts of the city in the afternoon before heading back to your drop off point
Your Roots: If you have Scottish heritage, and who doesn’t, let us know a bit about it and we will design a tour to take you on a trip around your ancestral homeland. This is obviously distance restricted but even if we can’t fit a tour in for you we will still come back to you and let you know where you came from and suggest some points of interest for you to visit on either a future visit or at some other point of your travels. No charge for this service.
The New Lanark Experience: David Dale and subsequently Robert Owen built and created the village of New Lanark, just a short walk down the hill from the Royal Burgh of Lanark. This stunning location became the site of Britain’s largest mill in it’s time. The social reform and ideologies of the mill have been recognised as the prerunners of modern day cooperative societies. The educational establishment may well be the model used to create our modern day educational system. This step back in time is a fascinating glimpse into the past with many influences on our modern day thinking.
Stirling Castle, Hairy Coo’s and The Trossachs: On this tour we will visit Stirling Castle and discover it’s significance in the battles for Scottish Independence introducing famous Scottish heroes such as William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. From Stirling and our stories of bloodshed and betrayal we will head into the tranquility of the Trossachs national park to visit 3 of Scotland’s most famous highland cattle before taking our scenic journey through the Trossachs to reach the beautiful village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond.
Golf,Whisky & Palaces (A Very Scottish Tour) On this tour we will visit St Andrews, the famous home of Scotland’s oldest golf course with time to explore both the Auld Course and the ancient town before heading out to Kingsbarns Distillery to see how Scotland’s most famous export is produced. Our final destination for the day will be the stunning village of Falkland to explore the palace and this antiquated village used as a filming location for the hit TV
