Family Focused Tours
At designer tour we actively encourage family tours. We have designed a number of tours specifically with families in mind. Each tour has a unique activity book which will keeps kids of all ages engaged and entertained throughout the day. Our family focused tours provide a bit more time at fewer locations with a longer time allocated for lunch in kid friendly restaurants rather than pubs. Our activity books are specific to each tour and are designed to both educate and entertain kids at each of the attractions which have been carefully selected with family groups in mind. We believe our family focused tours offer more than family friendly tours which tend to tolerate rather than focus on family groups.
Family Focused Tour Summary
Explore Stirling: Stirling Castle was a very important fortification during the battles for Scottish independence and changed hands 8 times between the Scot’s and the invading English armies. We will explore the castle and a near by battlefield where we can take part in a computer simulated battle re-enactment. Scotland also has a rich history of myths and legends, we will visit the magnificent Kelpies and the surrounding area including the Helix Park
Explore Glasgow: Glasgow has been revitalized since the early 1990’s when it was declared the European City of Culture. As such it is a fantastic city to explore. On this tour we will explore the magnificent Glasgow Cathedral dating back to the 11 hundreds and it’s surrounding area before heading out west to the fantastic transport museum where the kids will face a fairly tough treasure hunt. From here we will head to the southside of the city for lunch and a trip to the Science Centre.
Explore Edinburgh: Dynamic Earth is a fantastic starting point and kids of all ages will love exploring this science based museum. When we leave Dynamic Earth we will pass by The Palace of Holyroodhouse and the Scottish Parliament Building as we start our walk up the Royal Mile. We will stop in at the museum of childhood and take a nostalgic trip back to when we were kids and toys were, well simpler is the best description. Again kids love to see what us old folk did when we were younger before the internet took over the world. With a stop for lunch in a family friendly restaurant we will move on to the National Museum of Scotland and Greyfriar’s Bobby before completing our tour with a visit to Edinburgh Castle.
